At Cloud 9 Workshop, we believe that sewing should be fun, approachable, and empowering—no matter your age or experience level. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or you’re ready to level up your stitching skills, our workshops are designed to help you build confidence through hands-on experience right from the start.
🧵 A Friendly Introduction to the Sewing Machine
For many beginners, the sewing machine can seem a little intimidating. That’s why our workshops are structured to take the fear out of sewing and replace it with excitement. From your very first session, you’ll be working with real tools and making real progress. We guide you step-by-step through machine basics, safety, and setup so you’re not just watching—but doing.
✂️ Learn by Doing
Our approach is centered around learning by doing. We start with foundational skills and immediately put them into practice with engaging skill-building projects. Whether it’s a stuffie, mittens, or cozy pillow, every project is chosen to match the maker’s experience while introducing new techniques in a manageable and encouraging way.
Each workshop builds skills at a comfortable pace—from threading the machine to adding embellishments—focusing on muscle memory and confidence, not just the final project.
👧 Sewing for Ages 8- Adult
We offer sewing workshops for adults, teens, and kids, 8+, including our popular youth sewing camps for 3rd – 12th grade. These sessions give creators a fun and supportive environment to learn valuable skills, problem-solve, and express themselves. Many students return season after season, growing their skills alongside a community of makers.
🌿 Creative, Sustainable, Supportive
Cloud 9 Workshop also emphasizes eco-conscious making. Many of our projects use repurposed, upcycled, or sustainable materials. It’s a great way to learn sewing while being mindful of the planet.
But most of all, we’re here to help you love sewing. Our studio is filled with encouragement, creativity, and a sense of community that keeps people coming back to learn and make more.

Kelcey created Cloud 9 Workshop in 2012. The business name came to her while rocking her youngest in the wee hours of a warm summer morning. While the name came in a flash, the business has taken 11 yrs to develop. She believes art experiences add richness to life & provide opportunities to explore & express thoughts, ideas, & feelings. Currently, she is working towards a doctorate in art education. Time with her family is what she enjoys most & her favorite collection is sea glass & driftwood.
